High Jewelry set measuring air quality and air flow with design inherited from Kurdish jewelry and carpet weaving techniques.
From polluted air to traditional Kurdish carpet weaving and jewelry techniques deemed as slow in progress and dying art. This evoked my interest of the to make a wearable technology piece bringing awareness of air quality and Kurdish carpet weaving and jewelry forward.
The jewelry piece is a symbolic statement of telling a story of hierarchal labour of ethical making and preserving traditions and handicraft.Working with the body as a metaphorical element of movement and the face as the channel of connection between you and the world.
Depicted on the picture is the Kurdish carpet symbol of the Rose flower and translates to the symbol of innocence and passion. The color of the gems is meticulously chosen and portrays the colors of happiness, truth and the sacred color of green, also the Prophets color.
Highlighting the nose as the raw source of fresh air this part measures the wearers breathing flow with a gyroscope and glows in a similar tempo.
The eyes are covered in the symbol of the pomegranate and means fertility. How we perceive our world through small cutouts as a metaphor for the particles in the air. The surrounding sees the beauty only.
The tears is the flow of the truth of air and art being washed off and forgotten.
ARDUINO & NECK EARING
The neck is something always a place where we usually reserve for a hairbun, helmet adjustments or cover all together.
I wanted to highlight technology and traditional handicraft coming together in the ”end”.
The Arduino chip is the smallest to date and is stacked with a gas and air sensor meant to be collect and easily being replaceable by the user by sliding the components out sideways.
The presentation of the piece is the most crucial part of as easily highlighting the way of using it and use the box in conjunction as storage and transportation.
The opening flower wheel on top is the lotus symbol meaning immortality with a green emerald stone depicting the sacred of care taking and being mindful.
